How LRAP Works

For Students

If you are selected to receive the LRAP award by your college or university, you pay nothing. Your award letter will specify an upper and lower income threshold that determine how much assistance you receive. You must graduate from the institution that awarded you the LRAP and be employed.

If your income after graduation is low, you will receive assistance to help you repay your student loans:
  • If your income is below the lower income threshold, you will receive reimbursement for the entire amount of your loan payments.
  • As your income increases to the upper income threshold, the benefit is reduced proportionately.
  • For example, if your income is half-way between the upper and lower income thresholds, you will receive half of the amount of your loan payments for that year.
  • Assistance will continue until your loans are repaid or your income increases above the upper income threshold.

Other terms and conditions apply. See your LRAP Award Letter and accompanying Terms & Conditions for details.

For Families

"Being able to send our girls to college seemed financially impossible. However, by using the LRAP program, our anxieties have eased and we can focus on supporting them with confidence."
-LRAP Parent

"Knowing that the LRAP is available and waiting in the wings has made all the difference between whether our son could continue his education or have to drop out."
-LRAP Parent

"LRAP was definitely a deciding factor in our decision.  I hate that our son has to have student loans at all, but LRAP gives me a lot more peace of mind, knowing he has this program as a safety net."- LRAP Parent

"Simply because of the LRAP and the relief and peace of mind it offers students about their future loan debt one of my prize students, a sophomore whom I am counting on to be a leader in our program, will be returning in the fall and will now be able to complete her degree at our institution... I couldn’t be more grateful for the LRAP program."
